Knittler - P/op Kölsch (CD)

What do the songs of David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, The Police, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Steve Earle, Joshua Kadison, Ryan Adams, Cindy Lauper, Black, Nik Kershaw, The Hooters, Rod Stewart and Bette Midler have in common? They have all been brilliantly translated into Cologne dialect by Stefan Knittler and are appearing for the first time on an album to mark the 10th anniversary of his event concept "P/op KÖLSCH".

The P/op KÖLSCH success story began in Cologne's Gloria Theater in 2011 and KNITTLER remains loyal to the cult venue to this day. He has been delighting fans every year for 10 years now with a program of "world hits in Kölsch". Stefan Knittler is supported live by a 10-person band and the "best guests in the world", which in the history of P/op KÖLSCH have included Brings, Kasalla, Carolin Kebekus, Höhner, Anke Engelke and many others.

While most of the events planned for 2020 have been postponed until next year due to Corona, Stefan Knittler did not want to wait any longer to record selected favorite songs from 10 years. In August, the recording was made in Wolfgang Stach's Maarwegstudio2 in Cologne, along with selected live recordings from the Senftöpfchen Theater. And so the album KNITTLER "P/op KÖLSCH" will be released in October 2020.
