The name of the Mexican-Spanish band Jenny And The Mexicats is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the colloquial term for the inhabitants of Madrid (Gatos/Cats) and also refers to the origins of two of the band's musicians: Mexico. Jenny And The Mexicats fuse elements of jazz, rockabilly, flamenco, reggae, country and cumbia. This mixture gives their music a distinctive touch. The songs move stylistically in a completely relaxed and natural way between genres. One moment you think you are on the legendary Plaza de Garibaldi in Mexico City, then in an Andalusian flamenco club, only to unexpectedly end up on a sandy beach in Jamaica. A musical journey that proves that there are no boundaries when it comes to music. That's why there are no labels, prejudices or pigeonholes for the Mexicats either. In their (adopted) Mexican homeland, Jenny And The Mexicats are one of the most popular bands in the country, playing in the biggest venues and at the biggest festivals. With "Open Sea/Mar Abierto", Jenny And The Mexicats' first album will be released in Germany in February. The band's first local club tour will also take place to coincide with this.
